While the popular series ‘That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime’ will be getting a second season in 2020, here’s a list of similar anime series you could binge watch on.
The Rising of the Shield Hero

The Rising of The Shield Hero is the anime adaptation of the light novel series written by Aneko Yusagi. The anime follows the story of an easy-going Japanese youth, Naofumi Iwatani, who is summoned into a parallel world along with three others to fight inter-dimensional hordes of monsters called Waves. In his continuous hardships in the fight against evil and injustice, Iwatani starts losing hope and becomes a cynic, though he keeps advancing further. The Rising of The Shield Hero is quite similar to That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime as both the animes belong to the Isekai genre that easily meets the viewer expectation. The small changes in the status quo of characters are particularly mind-blowing and utilized to each of their strengths.
How Not to Summon a Demon Lord

The anime adaptation of the light novel series, written by Yukiya Murasaki, follows the adventures of Sakamoto Takuma, a hikikomori gamer who is mysteriously transported into a strange world of his favourite MMORPG, Cross Reverie, where he’s Diablo, the Demon King. Takuma starts his journey as a slave of two girls, and the adventure begins as he uses his clever powers to turn them into his subordinates. The anime is much similar to The Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime as both the main characters lack any form of social skills. The characters in both the anime possess incredible powers that can be easily used for evil deeds, but they don’t want to do it.
Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody

The anime is an adaptation of the Japanese light novel series written by Hiro Ainana and focuses on the story of Ichirou Suzuki, a 29-year old gaming programmer who spends most of his time debugging two MMORPGs that his company is preparing for publication. After taking a nap he surprisingly wakes up as a 15-year old named Satou Pendragon, a nickname he uses while running beta tests, in a parallel fantasy RPG world that he often works on with no way to return to his world. As Satou, he builds his little party and leads a big adventure in the new world. The anime has a storyline that is common to the Isekai genre and is much similar to That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime as both the main characters are transported to another world and have some cheat skills/powers making them pretty powerful.
Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid

The anime adaptation of the manga series, written and illustrated by Coolkyousinnjya, follows the story of Kobayashi, an office worker and programmer who lives a boring life until she is greeted by a large dragon named Tohru. The dragon transforms into a human right outside her front door. Tohru’s presence attracts other dragons, gods, and mythical beings including Kanna, to Kobayashi’s home demanding to return Tohru to the other world. The anime doesn’t follow the logic of other Isekai, but it explores the characters in a way that you will end up loving.
Wise Man’s Grandchild

The anime adaptation of the Japanese light novel, written by Tsuyoshi Yoshioka, follows Rimuru, a young salaryman who dies in an accident and is reborn as a baby in another world filled with magic and demons. He is picked by the patriot hero “Sage” Merlin Wolford who gives him the name Shin, raises him as a grandson and equips him with some irresistible powers. He gradually starts “upgrading” the monsters around him by helping them to better their lives and defend their lands. The anime is much like That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime as both the main characters are reincarnated to another world with magic and become overpowered than other people.
No Game No Life

The anime series created by Atsuko Ishizuka is a colourful adaptation of the Japanese light novel series of the same name by Yū Kamiya. The story follows two hikikomori siblings Sora and Shiro, who are known as Blank, an undefeated group of gamers. They are transported into an alternate world by the God of Game with a challenge to play a match of chess. They win against a character named Tet in a chess match and get summoned to Disboard, a world in which everything is decided by games while obliging to the Ten Pledges to prevent conflicts. No Game No Life is one of the top anime like That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime as both are isekai- based fun shows with an overpowered protagonist.
Overlord

The anime adaptation of the light novel series follows Momonga, a middle-aged skeletal “Overlord” character who decides to play his favourite MMORPG for the last time before it goes offline forever. Momonga is surprised to know that he is still a part of the game even after its end time and soon realises that all the NPCs of the game have become sentient and can talk to him out of their own free will. He decides to explore the world around him to get a better hold on his strange situation. Overlord, which is yet another “trapped in an alternate world” series with a super skilled lead character, is quite popular for its specific concept. Overlord is similar to That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime with overpowered characters that are used as a plot device for world-building and domination.
Knight’s & Magic

The anime adaptation of the Japanese light novel series of the same name follows Tsubasa Kurata, a young Japanese mecha otaku, who dies after being hit by a truck and reincarnates as a child named Ernesti Echevalier in an alternate fantasy world with magic and giant robots. With his love for giant robots, he uses his programming knowledge and his surprising aptitude for magic in this world to become a super inventor/pilot. The classic overpowered protagonist in the anime shoots this world from “realistic” robots to laser-firing Gundams in a matter of years.
One Punch Man

One Punch Man is a popular anime that belongs to the Japanese superhero franchise of the same name created by the artist ONE. The anime is set in a world filled with action and is centred around Saitama, an incredibly powerful superhero who can take out opponents, aliens, and monsters with just one punch. The shonen anime is a hilarious and loving parody with fun action sequences, loveable characters, and biting moments of comedy. While portraying the grey moral of being a hero, this anime often flips the shonen tropes on their heads.
Log Horizon

The popular anime Log Horizon was a pioneering take on a stuck-in-a-video game concept combined with skills and strategies. The anime follows Shiroe, a young man who finds himself trapped in the MMORPG Elder Tale, just after it releases its twelfth expansion pack. Log Horizon continues to be one of the most popular isekai anime as video gaming was an integral part of the otaku lifestyle. Many anime with a similar concept of leaving players stuck in a video game was followed by Log Horizon. The anime has been strategically devised to perfection so that audience doesn’t find it to be clichéd and repetitive like other gaming anime.
