Born in 1956, British artist David Mach, is known for his extraordinary sculptures created using mass-produced objects as a unique medium of artistic creation and he commonly uses a technique where several small objects are used to make the whole. Few of these peculiar artistic mediums include newspapers, magazines, coat hangers, and matches.

These peculiar sculptures are made up of thousands of standard coat hangers. Firstly, Mach creates a plastic mold. Then, the coat hangers are attached to the mold and welded together. Nickel plating is done for that final touch. Using this technique, he has created sculptures ranging from Huge Gorillas to Astronauts, ; Jesus, Tigers, even Mickey Mouse’s head.

The coat hanger hooks are left as they are protruding from all over the sculpture. Sometimes, they are straightened, making the sculpture full of spikes. In either case, they create a dramatic effect, as the sculptures look as if they are surrounded by a metallic mist causing them to look blurred. David Mach, with his extraordinary choice of medium, certainly pushes the boundaries of art and inspires artists to try new things
