Scientists have discovered strange animals and a very strange looking marine blob in the deep sea of Puerto Rico recently. But after getting captured by high definition cameras, this blob has gathered the center spotlight. This species is known as Duobrachium Sparksae and is the first one to be identified only through HD cameras. See, isn’t he a born star?

National Ocean Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) scientists came across this new magnificent species and were amazed to see its strange balloon-like structure with two strings. This creature is a new species of comb jelly which are similar but not related to jellyfish. When Duobrachium Sparksae moves by pumping its rows of comb-like cilia, they refract light into a prism of glowing colors. Sounds like a party animal.

Duobrachium Sparksae is very small in size and ranges around 6 cm but its tentacles range from 30 to 65 cm. The scientist team found it around 4000 meters deep and said they have never seen anything like it. When this species was recorded, the camera was not equipped with tools to capture the samples of the animal. The team also said that it might take decades to encounter this strange species again.

Study co-author Allen Collins said, “Even if we had the equipment, there would have been very little time to process the animal because gelatinous animals don’t preserve very well; ctenophores are even worse than jellyfish in this regard.” But many questions remain unanswered about this now strange-looking species. But right now it’s the show-stealer everywhere.
