The October of 1958 saw a tremendous development when physicist William Higinbotham created the now-known as the first video game ever. It was a simple tennis game similar to the Pong from the 70’s and was a hit at the Brookhaven ; National Laboratory Open House. It was titled as ‘Tennis-for-Two’ , which is a simulation of the game tennis. It came into existence before the much loved arcades and home video games and people waited in lines outside the national laboratory to try a hand at it. ; It is also called the ‘forerunner of modern video games’. ;

The game reached 9.5 billion sales in the year 2006-07 in the states, alone. It was played by two people in charge of separate controllers ; connected to analog computers and an oscilloscope. Higinbotham utilized 4 operational amplifiers to generate motion in the ball while 6 of the remaining amplifiers in the computer sensed the hit on the net and then transferred control to player two. ;

By the year 1959, improved versions of the same game were introduced with a larger screen and better features. It was a truly remarkable invention for the now prospering gaming industry and paved the path for so much more!
