<p class="has-text-align-justify">The cheese rolling festival, Gloucestershire is a 200 year old tradition and is one of the UK&#8217;s most eccentric festivals. The festival in the past was celebrated at the end of the winter to mark the growth of new crops. The festival is essentially a race in which participants chase a 9lb wheel of Double Gloucester cheese down the hill at a speed of about 700mph. Cheese Rolling takes place during the Spring Bank holiday at Cooper&#8217;s Hill. ;</p>

<p class="has-text-align-justify">There is no specific criteria of participation or required paperwork to participate in the race. All you need to do is roll the cheese down the hill. There are four downhill races including three for men and one for women with 14 racers participating in each. The winner of this cheese rolling race receives their cheese and ; £1,000 cash as the prize. ;</p>

<p class="has-text-align-justify">In spite of the seemingly simple race it sees the most number of injuries since the slippery 200-yard course down the hill has a steep 50 percent grade, and is uneven. In spite of this it is obviously one of the most popular ; traditional festivals with a huge audience tuning in to watch and record this quasi-athletic challenge. ;</p>



<p class="has-text-align-justify">Chris Andreson, 30 years of age has the most number of wins in the race with 21 victories over 14 years. Another notable person is Max McDougall, 22 years of age won the first men&#8217;s race in 2019 after tripping and stumbling down Cooper&#8217;s Hill!</p>
