Recently, Amazon rolled out a new feature on iOS that allows users to type their requests to Alexa and see the responses on the screen. This update by Amazon has extended the voice assistant’s utility beyond the home. It is expected to be welcomed by many users as a huge convenience since Alexa services will now be attained without making any sound. Control Alexa from iPhone by simply typing the request!</p>

<p class="has-text-align-justify">Back in July 2020, Amazon overhauled the mobile app to encourage the voice assistant&#8217;s access through smartphones. Before this update came into being, the app’s design focussed more on configuring devices and controlling user settings. This change was preceded by enabling wake word activation for Alexa while making use of the mobile app.</p>

<p class="has-text-align-justify">Though Amazon has not rolled out the texting feature fully yet but you can now control Alexa from iPhone by simply typing the request! If you have access, you can find it by going into the Alexa app to the announcement cards. Click “Now you can type with Alexa.” Push the “Try Now” button and it will get you into a typical Chatbox layout. It starts off the discussion with a disclaimer that the feature is in preview. This means that there may be new features added gradually.</p>



<p class="has-text-align-justify">This feature will prove to be very useful if you&#8217;re stuck and are unable to speak or simply don&#8217;t want to — like when you are in bed with a sleeping partner but still want to use Alexa to find something. Ask &#8220;How tall is the Burj Khalifa?&#8221; or ask Alexa to tell you a joke. Add things to your to-do list and control smart gadgets in your home by just typing the instructions.</p>
