<p>For starters, I ain’t no movie buff. Nor am I the kind who sticks to a certain genre. And it goes without saying, I don’t follow directors, or superhero franchises. For someone like me, who straddles in and out of theatres (and in our times, streaming platforms online), Ridley Scott’s Raised by Wolves is quite the adrenaline pumping offering. ;</p>



<p>The trailer opens up to a mother, narrating to her children the evergreen story of the three little pigs. Simple, sweet, quaint. ;</p>

<p>Accept, the narration is interlaced by skeletons of dead animals, blood, gor, humans being toasted on fire, and an eerie twist at the end of the minute and a half long trailer. ;</p>



<p>Is the protector the predator? Or is the big bad wolf the sheep in the wolf’s clothing?</p>



<p>With Ridley Scot, one never really knows. ;</p>



<p>The official description of the American series says it&#8217;s a show where two androids are tasked with the responsibility of raising human children. Not on Mother Earth, but on some other mysterious looking, creepy planet. (Is it insensitive yet, to call someone else’s Earth creepy? To be fair, our Earth’s becoming creepy too. Blame it on the humans!)</p>

<p>Anyway, once religious differences enter this colony, the android soon realizes a lesson we all know too well &#8211; religion and religious manipulation is a task, inevitable, and yet potentially destructive to the participants. ;</p>



<p>The first two episodes are directed by Oscar nominated director Ridley Scot, known for works like ‘Alien’ (1979), the dystopian ‘Blade Runner&#8217; (1982) and science fiction fare, ‘The Martian” (2015). ;</p>



<p>Going by most recent reviews, ‘Raised by Wolves’ is quite the delightful watch. No, delightful not by parameters of rainbows and flowers. But by parameters of giving you content that tingles the mind, playing on contemporary themes of urgency. Religious belief, artificial intelligence, survival and so on. </p>

<p>Fundamentalists are at war with the atheists. The latter fantasize of a world, built on fact, rationale and logic. Utopian? Yes! Ideal for a brilliantly built fictional narrative? Yes again!</p>



<p>‘Raised by Wolves’ stars Travis Fimmel (of ‘Vikings’ fame, Amanda Collin, Niamh Algar and Abubakar Salim, amongst others. Up for viewing on HBO MAX.</p>



<p>From what we can judge, the trailer is promising. For un understatement. It’s timely. It’s hard hitting. Not comfortable, this ‘Raised by Wolves”, but is the world comforting anymore? Sigh. ;</p>
