<p>Saltwater Brewery in Delray Beach, Florida has saved thousands of aquatic creatures with its zero-plastic edible beer packaging. This comes in the form of edible 6-pack rings. </p>



<p>By now, we all know that over 100,000 marine creatures die every year due to plastics dumped in the ocean. Some eat them, some get entangled in them – they all reach the same fate, though. ;</p>

<p>When you&#8217;re on your next beer run, notice the packaging. ;</p>



<p>A Florida based brewery had had enough of plastic dumping into the ocean when it decided to put an end to the killer waste. Saltwater Brewery came up with novel solutions to save marine creatures, and eventually the balance of nature. ;</p>



<p>Even though there have been plenty of approaches towards eco-friendly beer packaging, seeing as the harmful effects of its cruel counterpart have been witnessed by the world time and again, Saltwater Brewery&#8217;s innovation is the most creative we have seen so far. ;</p>

<p>The sustainable and edible 6-pack rings are made of wheat and barley ribbons left over from the brewing process. The 100% biodegradable packaging can be safely consumed by humans and animals. ;</p>



<p>Now, of course, it isn&#8217;t nutritious, and cannot substitute food, but it&#8217;s much better than mistakenly eating plastic, or getting entangled in it. ;</p>



<p>Till now, 6-pack rings were made of plastic and materials that took months to years to decompose, before which they were usually eaten by marine life. The &#8216;healthy&#8217; packaging takes a few weeks to decompose, on land or in the water. If consumed before breaking down, the rings do not affect the animals in a negative way. ;</p>

<p>Even though Saltwater Brewery is a small one that was created by fishermen, surfers and people who love the sea, its impact can be unforeseen. Every now and then, we come across an innovation that holds the potential to change our world and improve quality of life drastically. The brewery&#8217;s sustainable creation is one of them. ;</p>
