There are millions of animal species across the world and are so varied in every aspect. You will find all types of animals and today you’ll find out the top 5 oldest animal species that are alive. ;

The Frilled Shark

The Frilled Shark and its variant from southern Africa are one of the oldest animal species that have been alive for over 150 years. Sea beds are where you will find these deadly sharks and it’ll give you a good jitter. Although, don’t worry you’ll rarely encounter them (this could be the reason for their lasting survival as well, who knows!). They are found in the pacific and Atlantic waters.

Martialis Heureka Ant

These ants are one of the oldest species out there as well. They have been in existence for almost 120 years as per what we have known about their existence. They first caught the eyes of the scientist in the year 2000 and are found in the Amazon Rainforests near Manaus, Brazil.

Sturgeon

Sturgeons are a 200 years old species. They grow and advance very slowly and can live over 100 years. Their lifespan is anyway a long one. These are found in the subtropical, temperate and sub-arctic water bodies and also along the coastline of Eurasia. Sturgeons aren’t that easy to find.

Jellyfishes

Jellyfishes are around 505 million years old! In the year 2007, scientists discovered a new fossil that was over half a billion years older than then known oldest fossil. This proves that jellyfishes could be way older than what we know about. They are found in deep waters across the globe.

Horseshoe Crab

These are interestingly known as the ‘living fossils’ that have not changed in 445 million years. This makes them nearly half a billion years old. Scientists discovered interesting new fossils in the year 2008 that added to their prevalence timeline by a hundred million years. That is a lot of time! These are found in North America, Maine, Mexico and Southeast Asia.
