While over packing gets us paying at the airport, the price of not eating right is often overlooked. I get the entire travel vibe, I honestly do! But the one issue that I face is with the food. Being the health freak that I am, I just can’t eat total junk while travelling. I know, I know, to travel is to try the street food of that place, to let go of all the rules and what not. I am not talking about going on a total junk detox while travelling and sticking to home cooked healthy meals, I am talking about a balance. After rewarding your taste buds with some junk, reward your body with some healthy food. So, as you may have already guessed, in this article I am going to talk about diet plans for your trips and how to keep a check on what you are eating!
Pack non-perishable snacks

Now this is a multi-purposed tip. Not only will non-perishable snacks that are healthy like dried fruits, snack bars and trail mix be your healthy binge, but in places where you can’t seem to find food to match your taste, these will come to your rescue.
Beware of buffets

While we do want to eat, we don’t want to burden ourselves with the weight of food through the trip. My tip for you to be mindful of what you must eat and what you mustn’t is that before taking a plate go around and take a look. Observe what all is there on the display and decide what you want to take. Take your plate and straight away go serve yourself only those items that you made a mental note of!
Watch out in the car!

We all know of the food monster that attacks us right when we sit in the car. It makes us aggressively tear open chips packets and gulp down candies. Instead of all this junk, you can either save space for the authentic food of the place you are going to and if you really want to munch on to something on the way, pack sandwiches, boiled eggs, hummus and celery!
Twist your order

As I have said earlier, to travel is to eat the authentic food of the destination. However, some tweaks are allowed. For example, if the place you are eating from has pasta as its specialty, you can ask them to make wholegrain pasta for you! This way you will be able to taste their delicious and famous pasta sauce while staying healthy!
Hydrate and don’t stress

We often forget to drink water on trips. It either gets replaced by the soda intake or gets forgotten about all together. Don’t do that. Water will help in your digestion. Talking about digestion, stress is one of the main causes of indigestion. So stop worrying so much and go have fun!
So here were some fun ways to eat light while having fun! Let us know in the comment section below what it is that you do to keep a check on your food intake while travelling!
