The story of Noah’s Ark is one of the most popular and beloved stories from the Bible. People have tried to recreate this visualization that has been given in the Bible and currently there are three lifesize replicas of Noah’s Ark – one in Hong Kong, one in Netherlands and one in Kentucky.
The huge ark in Grant Count, Kentucky, with three enormous decks full with exhibits and other attractions is the brainchild of the famous anti-evolutionist and CEO of Answers in Genesis. According to Patrick Kanewski, the Director of Operations for the Ark Encounter, the idea of a life-size replica was formed in the year 2004, and it was in 2014 that they broke ground to build the attraction. Since its launch in 2016, Ark Encounter is built exactly according to the descriptions given in Genesis flood narrative.
Kentucky’s Ark is spans over 510 feet in length, is 85 feet wide and 51 feet high.
The three decks are arranged into about 132 bays, each 18 feet high. You can start from the first deck and walk into the rest of the Ark through ramps. There are also elevators and restrooms in the masonry towers at the starboard side.
What you can’t miss:
The Creationist Museum
There is a huge museum of abou 75,000 square feet where there are working exhibits of the pre-flood world, Noah’s family’s living quarters, his workshop and a library. These exhibits are a step by step visual representation of the story of Noah. Deck two also features The Door. In addition to that there is also a gospel presentation. There are also exhibits on the flood geology, ice age and the ancient man. Museum of the Bible, Washington DC, has also let the Ark Encounter borrow their artifacts to display in the creationist museum on Deck three.
With a huge seating of 1500 people, Emzara’s Kitchen may be one of the largest restaurants in the world. It is a two-story buffet-style cafeteria open from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on working days and 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm on a Sunday.
In addition to a zoo, called the Ararat Ridge Zoo, at the back, there are also live animals on Deck two, like kangaroos, camels and donkeys. There are also animals in the petting area and rides on different animals.

The Ark Encounter also allows youth groups for a stay-over program, which is an exciting plan for an educational sleepover with friends. As of now, it is expanding its premises and working on the exhibit of the life size replica of the Tower of Babel.
