If you haven’t seen this oscar winning short film, what are you even watching? Skin, directed by Guy Nattiv, is an american drama which will send chills down your spine. The lead in the short film are Jonathan Tucker playing Jeffrey and Jackson Robert Scott playing Troy, his son. I will not give up the storyline because that would ruin your experience but take my word for it, Skin is exceptional and award winning for justified reasons.
The movie deals with the major theme of racism and how it trickles down through generations. Skin’s exceptional screenplay and direction brings out beautifully the catastrophic consequences of, consciously or unconsciously, feeding racist ideas and opinions to the younger generation and polluting the head of the upcoming generations and widening an absurd divide.
It clearly demonstrates how child psychology works and the kind of impact every word and action one does has on the children.
Skin deserves all the appreciation it gets and is a must watch. As long as we are tied up in shackles of discrimination and polarizations, it will hold relevance in our society.
