Nail art has always been quirky. Like every form of art, creating patterns and designs on our nails is but a manifestation of our fancy, an extension of ourselves. But how innovative do you have to be to create masterpieces through nail artistry? London-based artist Soph Parkinson’s miniature nail sculptures not only break societal conventions of what’s possible, the situations the artist represents are also truly amusing and refreshing. At the end of the day, this delight is what her followers get to experience.

How exactly, though, did Soph start experimenting, and what inspires her?
The artist admits that, even though she has always loved art in all its forms and has been quite taken by the artsy side of life, she was only introduced to nail art by a friend a few years back. However, during the lockdown was when she was truly able to immerse herself and create breathtaking miniature paintings and sculptures. Miniature, having its distinctive charm, has always intrigued her. This was also when she realized the true potential of nail products.
Like artists usually do, Soph tends to get an adrenaline rush by merely thinking about creating what has been lingering in her mind. Creation is a part of an artist’s soul food, and this is also the case with Parkinson. Fully indulged in her nail artistry, she is able to conceive surreal circumstances. Here a figurine of a woman rests on a sofa on her nails that resemble rugs, there another figure of an urban woman peeks into the mirror on her nails.
The artist sees pulsing possibilities in nails as mediums of art. Figments of her imagination come true on her Instagram page, and her audience is always mesmerized by the precise dealing.
