Needless to say, fashion is increasingly becoming a game of different body types making the cut. It’s more than understood that every trend is not for everybody. It’s definitely true that you’ll be more confident if you embrace your silhouette and not work against it. So the first step is to know what body shape you are! Here’s your foolproof guide-
Measure yourself
You’ve got to measure your shoulders, bust, hips, and waist.
Shoulders: For this, get someone to help you measure from the tip of one shoulder, all the way around you. Keep the measuring tape high up around your shoulders such that it almost slips off.
Bust: Wrap the measuring tape across the fullest part of your bust. Don’t pull it in a manner that your breasts start to squish!
Waist: Measure the smallest portion of your natural waist, right above your belly button.
Hips: Start at one hip, wrapping the tape around the largest part of your butt.
Your body type is
Inverted Triangle: If your bust or shoulder measurement is 5% (or more) bigger than your hip measurement. For instance, if your shoulders are 36″ and your hips are 34.25″ or less.
Rectangle: If your waist is 25% (or less) smaller than your bust or shoulder measurement and your hip, bust, and shoulder measurements are within 5% of each other.
Hourglass: You have an hourglass body if your waist 25% (or more) smaller than your bust or shoulder (waist ÷ shoulders or bust must be ≤ 0.75). Also, your waist is 25% (or more) smaller than your hips (waist ÷ hips must be ≤ 0.75). Further, your hip and shoulder measurements must lie within 5% of each other.
Pear: You have a pear (also known as triangle) body if your hips are 5% (or more) larger than your bust or shoulders (hips ÷ shoulders or bust must be ≥ 1.05).
