Who soothes you when you wipe your tears and snot after that terrible breakup? Who stays with you when you watch the saddest movies ever? And who makes you smile so much that it is in most of your happy memories? If you answered ‘your best friend’, you’re WRONG. These titles are held indisputably by the one thing that is our greatest reason to live: Ice-Cream. It is the creamy, cold, delicious goodness that reminds you of your best snowball fights and the prettiest summertime sights.

Ice-cream is the sweet, down-to-earth, approachable companion that takes care of you. Not always, though. For instance, you might have to get ready to sell your house if you want a taste of this high-maintenance beauty – ‘The Frrrozen Haute Chocolate’, currently holding the Guinness World Record for the most expensive ice-cream in the world.
With restaurants racing to become the winners in satisfying wealthy clients, the famous Serendipity 3 restaurant in New York cooked up something crazy. They created the most luxuriously brain-freezing dessert, and there’s a reason it is so hyped. Boasting 28 of the world’s most exotic and expensive cocoas from Africa and South America, the richest and most sophisticated chocolate truffle i.e. the La Madeline au Truffle ($2,500 a pound), and of course, five whole grams of 23-carat gold as its ingredients, I can basically hear this ice-cream sundae calling me poor. On top of that, it is served in a baccarat crystal goblet lined with an 18-carat gold and white diamond bracelet, and a jewel-encrusted gold spoon to eat it with. This spoon itself costs over $14,000, and is served as a take-home gift for the royal, sweet-toothed customer who ordered the dessert.
Serendipity 3 is actually well-known for pulling off such extravagant stunts, such as being recognized for serving the world’s most expensive hamburger, the $295 Le Burger Extravagant in May 2012, and for making the world’s most expensive, commercially available sandwich, the $214, “Quintessential Grilled Cheese”, in 2014. In fact, they were also the Guinness Record Holders for the previous most-expensive dessert, The Serendipity Golden Opulence Sundae, priced at $1000.

Now, for the moment of truth we’ve all been waiting for. The price of the ‘Frrrozen Haute Chocolate Ice-Cream Sundae’ is, drumroll please, a whopping $25,000. Now while you take the time to pick your jaw up from the floor, let me remind you that this is 25 times the previous record holder. Woah. Rich people with their rich ideas can be scary sometimes. But you gotta admit, after finding out the huge price, you are more than intrigued about how divine it should taste, right? What are you waiting for then? Start saving up to visit Serendipity 3 before they come up with an even more outrageously expensive dessert!
