Sundance Institute organizes its annual film festival that is known as Sundance Film Festival in the month of January. It is celebrated in Salt Lake City, Park City, Utah, Sundance Resort and is also the largest film festival (independent) in the US. Its tickets go for sale in advance and believe me when I say that it’s no piece of cake to get them. It is open to the public and locals can get their tickets before the sales are open for the world.
It is a several day event with a massive collection of the best movies from across the globe and the audience has the best time here.
History of Sundance Festival
The tradition began in 1978 in Utah and was called the United States Film Festival. The film commission of Utah launched this venture to bring independent films and work into the spotlight. Robert Redford was the first chairman of the board and the involvement of an actor cum director like him gave a boost to the awareness campaigns and festival funds.
Over 122000 people attend the Sundance festival. It is responsible for providing so many locals jobs, it generates millions of tax revenue and is a great platform for so many stunning films. It goes on for days and has awards for different categories such as drama, documentary, cinematic drama, etc.
