Avoid The Crowds With These Handy Apps

It’s a struggle we introverts know all too well. Avoiding crowds is as much of a task, as it is a skill. But with the ongoing pandemic, it’s become a necessity. To easy things out of you, here are some mobile applications you use to avoid crowds. This is your moment, fellow introverts. It’s time to go, ‘we told you so’.

Crowdless

Avoid The Crowds With These Handy Apps

Developed by a postgraduate student at the University of Oxford and launched earlier this year, this handy app helps to avoid crowds at your popular grocery store. Or supermarket, if you will. Not only this. The app also allows you to select and make a list of your favourite stores and check the crowds at those spots particularly as well. All the convenience, with reportedly no worry of data misuse.

Crowd

Now this one comes from the alumni at the University of Cape Town. And this one also extends to public locations. No differentiation here. The need to build this app for the developers first stepped up when COVID first started rearing its ugly head in South Africa. With real-time population density information and updated maps, the app makers assure a seamless experience. Again, with no data misuse threat.

Transit

With modes of public transportation resuming services in a number of metropolitan areas around the world, this app could come quite handy. Works in 200+ cities for buses, trains, Ubers and what not. With step by step instructions, this app helps you get the cheapest and fastest way to reach your destination. No matter how unfamiliar you personally may be with the place. No matter whether you’re online or offline. With pandemic related service-changes and crowd info, this is quite the package

AllCounter

Few apps give you services that are literally namesakes of their names. This one is one of them. With the AllCounter you’ll be able to count the number of people heading out of doorways, counters, entrances, exits and what not. Just to give you an idea of how exposed you are to medical threat, to put it to contemporary use. The app however offers users a platform to count anything from laps and goals, to passengers and visitors. Cigarette smokes and beer bottles chugged too. Comes with a fee though.

Cloak

This one’s a veteran in the list. Kind of a prophet, no? Well launched back in 2014, the app isn’t meant for you to avoid crowds per se, but if you think your unwanted friends and acquaintances on your Instagram friend list is a crowd, then yes! It uses the location data of your contacts on Instagram, amongst other apps, to help you avoid bumping into them. For the hermit in us.

And while you’re at it, this concept note for an app is quite worthy of a check out.
