In April 2022, the Astronomia Tourbillon space watch set on its mission to live in outer space for 17 days, in AX-1, traveling a distance of 7 million miles! Its faithful companion was Eytan Stibbe, a philanthropist, who held onto the watch. The four man mission was to orbit the earth around 270 times.
The watch is exemplary and extraordinary and its journey. The Astronomia Tourbillon Bucherer BLUE space watch contains four dials, ‘satellites’, two of which represent the earth and the moon. The spherical earth is magnesium-lacquered, and the diamond-cut sphere that represents the moon is an original Jason & Co.
The third dial, a Tourbillon cage, a concept two centuries old, promotes accuracy; the fourth satellite is an hour-and-minute dial.
Five ultra-domed sapphire crystals observe the movement, the starry, magical night-sky design completes the galactic nature of this watch. The satellites are in constant motion – the engineering marvel becoming even more miraculous with each movement.
