To live in a k-drama and fall in love with your handsome, rich boss is a dream of every Korean drama watcher. Office romance kdrama series always brings out my appreciation towards the film industry. I fell in love with the cinematography, story and that one side character who didn’t even get a chance (how I wish I could hug them). The comfort and joy it brings to its watchers is immaculate. Here are the best, handpicked selections of office romance series!
What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim? (2018)

This series defines ‘office romance’. It has one of the best storylines and a major plot twist! It revolves around a narcissistic Vice Chairman, Lee Young Joon who is self-obsessed and his hardworking secretary, Kim Mi So. After working for 9 years, she finally decides to let go and live her life the way she wants and find something important to her. There was no romantic involvement before, but now she starts noticing the changes. Can this strict workplace relationship turn into something more?
Radiant Office (2017)

This was my first ever k-drama, and I’m still proud of my choice. This slice of life series focuses on three main protagonists, all going through different kinds of pain. Our main focus is on the relationship between a possibly terminally ill temp worker and her strict marketing director. This series taught me how pain can be lowered by sharing, or even talking with others. This has countless relatable moments, and each episode either made me sob or laugh my heart out.
Romance is a Bonus Book (2019)

I am still not over this series. It is too beautiful to not be added here, and bonus point- it revolves around literature! Cha Eun Ho, our main character is a famous, handsome writer who is also the Editor-in-chief of a book firm. He comes across his childhood friend, Kang Dan Yi who was then struggling financially, single mother and divorced. Desperate to get a job, she lies about her resume and gets a job at the same book firm as her childhood friend. This series unfolds the romantic relationship between the two friends.
Her Private Life (2019)

Fans’ life can be hard, and at times you may not seem to fit in. Our protagonist, Sung Deok-Mi lives a double life in order to keep her fan life a secret. She works as a curator in an art gallery, and secretly a fan site. The new director of the art gallery, Ryan Gold is a former painter but doesn’t paint anymore. Throughout the series, we observe how their relationship develops as Ryan comes to know about Deook-Mi’s ‘private’ life. This is a perfect binge-watch for every fan.
Itaewon Class (2020)

The most ‘modern’ Korean drama I have seen till now. This series covers race, gender identity, ageism, social status and hardships all too well. Park Sae Ro Yi’s story starts with punching a bully, which leads him to be expelled. Following days, his dad is killed in an accident. While trying to find the truth behind his dad’s death, he is put in jail, where he met his future co-workers. He then opens a pub in Itaewon, where he encounters Jo Yi Seo, an obsessive sociopath who is a social media star. She joins his journey of revenge, intelligent moves and success with other characters in the story.
The list goes on and on as new and exciting office romance kdrama join it. Which one was your favourite?
