Canadian studio Ratloop Games added to the global index of first person shooter games, not too long ago – Lemnis Gate. Developed by Ratloop and published by British game developer, Frontier Developments (of Elite: Dangerous and Jurassic World: Evolution fame). This being the studio’s second game, in addition to their racing game Vroom Kaboom. Their new offering is a tactical game set in a distant future. Here’s what we know about Lemnis Gate and what makes the game exciting.
The backdrop of the game is a reality in the future (or may be not, given our times) where humanity is balancing itself on the brink of extinction. But all’s not lost. There does exist this interstellar device which when operated well, can take our planet back in time, by 50 years. Good enough time to right the wrong, no? Not that easy. There are other Universes around who’d rather save themselves using the device. Go around to save your planet, using first person battles and unique time travel gameplay.
For now, the game can be played in the one vs one, two vs two matches. Later on, the makers plan to add four game modes. You could choose from a variety of characters to portray and employ a ton of spoiler tactics against enemies. From a commander, the chemist (for all the toxic waste strategising), and sniper and so on. Lay toxic waste around, slow time even and so on. Make use of in-game special abilities too. Each battle session lasts for 15 minutes, with each round only for 25 seconds.
The game is ready for preorder, but will be made available on PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One by early 2021.
