The Witcher
This is a popular American 8 episode series that many fantasy and drama fans described as a good-looking combination of Game of Thrones and Lord of The Rings series. Adapted from Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski’s best-selling book of the same name, The Witcher chronicles the fortunes of Geralt of Rivia, a solitary mutated monster hunter who swifts from one life-threatening situation to another. The series that was just released in December 2020, has even become one of the most-watched shows in 2019. It had over 76 million viewers by the first month of release and soon became the most-in-demand TV series in the world, across all platforms. The much-awaited second eight-episode season is announced to be released in 2021.

Money Heist
This Spanish action crime mystery series premiered in 2017 is currently the talk of the town. The plot of the series revolves around a group of robbers assigned with the task of stealing buildings by occupying them, on behalf of a nameless boss, the Professor. The series has similarities with films Ocean’s Eleven (2001) and Baby Driver (2017) but has established a prime space among global fan-base by now. The Season 4 of the series has been released in this year, and the fans are expecting for a Season 5. When asked whether the show will be revived for a new season, Money Heist creator Alex Pina had an interesting reply, “Someone knows there will be a fifth season, but we don’t.” There was a gap of 9 months between the third and fourth season of the series, which probably is a hint that a fifth season may come – but there could be further delay as Netflix suspended the production on all original projects on March 15 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Sex Education
Another one in our Top 10 Netflix Shows recommendations is this hit series, which premiered in January 2019, and has been watched by over 40 million subscribers on Netflix already. The two-season series that stands out with its bold and hilarious take on sex and relationships is one of the most successful Netflix Originals. The young audience of the series has a lot to learn about sex in the process from STD advice to bedroom tips by Otis and Maeve’s therapy clinic. Characters, like flamboyant Eric and quirky Lily, perfectly add humour and heart in the series to resonate with its young viewers. The creator of the series Laurie Nunn has announced that she is working on the third season of the series.

Dark
This Netflix series, that premiered in December 2017, has been described as “a hard to watch, and impossible to stop watching” Netflix series. Dark is Netflix’s first original German series that is dark with full of relationship cheats, scary killings and ugly secrets. The series created by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese is meant to be watched late at night, with the lights off, for a ghost story experience. Dark has been noted for its many similarities with the 1990s TV series Twin Peaks and the 2016 Netflix series Stranger Things.

Friends
Why are we still talking about Friends in our Top 10 Netflix Shows? Well, because this is an evergreen show to watch and then rewatch! Originally released on National Broadcasting Company (NBC) in September 1994 and has been made available on Netflix since January 2015. The series created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman revolves around six friends – Monica, Chandler, Ross, Phoebe, Joey and Rachel – who have their own comical adventures in their personal and professional lives. An integral part of popular culture globally, Friends is still watched by millions of audiences around the world. A handful of wacky theories, that the fans of the series have explored, make the re-watching experience of the series interesting.

Narcos
The series, that follows the life story of the infamous drug baron Pablo Escobar, is a masterpiece that one should not miss on Netflix. The series, which was one of the costliest Netflix Original productions, is expected to have an upcoming fourth season consisting of 10 episodes with a new drug cartel and a new team of DAE agents. More than just a biopic about Pablo Escobar, world’s most notorious drug lord, the series also explores the battles of the undercover DEA against narcotics.

Breaking Bad
This popular series created by Vince Gilligan, which was initially premiered on AMC channel in January 2008, was made available on Netflix just before the fourth season premiere in July 2011. Before the release of the fourth season on Netflix, the previous seasons had also been added which tremendously boosted interest till its final season in 2013. Set in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the show follows Walter White (played by Bryan Cranston), a terminally ill high school chemistry professor, who takes dramatic risks and becomes a key player in the local methamphetamine drug trade in an effort to provide for his family after his death.

Stranger Things
The Netflix Original series created by the Duffer Brothers, launched their third season released in July 2019 and it was a complete chartbuster on Netflix with 40.7 million views in its first four days, and 18.2 million views for the entire series. An investigative drama set in 1980 revolves around four teenagers – Will, Mike, Lucas and Dustin who along with their strange friend Eleven, try to save their city from the monsters in Upside Down. The show brilliantly combines supernatural elements portrayed with horror, science fiction and childlike sensibilities. According to latest reports, the most anticipated Season 4 of the series will be spread out across two runs.

Sherlock
The BBC’s hit detective series, that was hotly anticipated across all its seasons, was made available on Netflix. The series stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Doctor John Watson. The series, created by Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat, is a modern day spin on the legendary English detective and his accomplice shot in present-day London, while the one-off special, “The Abominable Bride”, which originally aired in January 2016, features a Victorian period fantasy resembling the chronicles written by Arthur Conan Doyle.

Sacred Games
The first Netflix Original series in India, which premiered in July 2018, is one of the most anticipated series. The thriller series revolves around a troubled Mumbai Police inspector who shares a common link with a fugitive gang boss who is determined to drive the city to destruction. His cryptic warning spurs the Police officer on a quest to save Mumbai from cataclysm. The series, whose second season released in August 2019, ended with a cliffhanger, leaving the fans of the show with the hope for a Season 3 in 2020.
