Anime’s discontinuation can be a consequence of many factors. One of the most common reasons is overwork or health problems of the original creator or the debt of the production houses. While these are serious conditions, some also lose viewers or simply do not get enough demand for a second season.
While we wait for their comeback, here are 5 discontinued anime series and their reasons!
HunterxHunter

This one is probably the most famous anime series, and its reason for hiatus is because of the health conditions of the creator. This manga series written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi was put on hold due to the author’s break. He said that the company’s demands were too much to handle and one chapter per week stressed him out to a point where he decided to put a stop to it. He also has back problems due to bad posture. The production house used to combine 10 chapters in one episode, and they simply do not have enough content to continue.
Claymore

This series is about demons, covering the fantasy genre and giving it a dark twist. This show also has female warriors and a captivating plot. The show is not hugely popular in Japan and thus did not have enough funds to continue the series. It is a possibility that another anime house can pick up the manga series and continue the anime. The fans were extremely disappointed to not get a proper ending.
High School Of The Dead

One of the best horror and action series of its time, this anime met its dead-end after Daisuke Saito died due to ischaemic heart disease. He had gone on hiatus, and the series did not continue being serialized. A new writer may be appointed for this series, but no official announcements have been made. High School Of The Dead remains an unfinished work.
Deadman Wonderland

Anime lovers were quick to watch this series after its interesting summary- A highschool student framed for the murder of a classmate! Now it has been nearly a decade since it started airing, and we are yet to expect season 2. The anime house removed important characters and scenes too, and one possible reason for no continuation is that the production company, Manglobe inc. went under a debt of approximately $3.2 million. It lost its original animators, creators, producers and overall staff to other companies and jobs.
Baccano

This series was cancelled leaving a lot of plot threads untied. With exciting characters and rich history about them, the series was told from multiple point of views. One possible reason for its discontinuation is the way the story was told and portrayed- out-of-sequence. Although not all had a problem with this and stated that the storytelling was carried out uniquely, the series went underappreciated.
How I wish they would continue! Which series’ return are you particularly interested in?
