The fact that most of us have felt the need to jazz our homes (and bathrooms even) during the lockdown, is a no-brainer. And for good reason, right? Bringing in the palm pots, hanging up the windchimes, dusing the pillows. But before you get out and splurge on those home decor items, it might just do us well to try our hand at interior designing – in the virtual word. Here’s our list of Top 5 Interior Designing Games, in no particular order.
Home Design: Caribbean Life
I’m an Ikea fan. (I’m still looking into the sketchy origins of the brand) So when the app store description of the above mentioned game explained that it featured furniture from Ashley and Ikea, amongst other decor stores, I was sold. And so should you. Not just for the Ikea bit obviously. But also because you get to design your homes, by the sandy beaches of the Caribbean islands. Complete with 3D graphics and aesthetic designs inspired art of Pinterest. Fab!
Kawaii Home Design
Though the description says it’s a girls game, the subsequent explanation begs to state that it’s meant for boys as well as girls. Even if it was just either of them, we love breaking rules don’t we? Design kitchens, restaurants or bedrooms with your unique styles. Similarly, help other stylists pick theirs out in public polls, on the app. Which is also a way to pick the best designed showroom of the lot. You also get to style yourself in this game with a selection of boutique outfits.
The Sims 4
This one was quite the lockdown favourite. Not really your standard house decorating game, but super fun nonetheless. This life simulation gameplay allows you to create and even control people. Given that most of us (read:all of us) would give an arm for such a superpower in the real world, why not try it out virtually? One of the aspects of this make-your-own-world game is one where you get to design your home, from scratch.
Design Home: House Renovation
Another favourite that’s made it to quite a few interior designing gaming lists. You get to churn out a home for clients, and what’s more? Award yourself with in-app rewards at the completion of your design projects. Wholesome with design challenges, 3D spaces, real, high-end furniture and decor brands, there’s very little this designing app misses out on. And if that wasn’t enough, if you like any of the decor pieces shown in the app, you can actually purchase it for yourself. No, not for your virtual assignment. For your actual home. In real life. Not just for the game. Ugh. This could go on forever. Just check the game out!
House Flip With Chip And Jo
Apart from the usual fare of giving players the ability to flip old looks and redesign homes the way you’d like, there are a few additions. You can design lavish homes in different cities. And unlock fancier furniture in different levels. You can vote on other player’s designing extravaganza, the way they can vote for yours – and climb the in-app charts in the bargain!
There. No need to whack your brains over how you’d like to redo your own house. Try it out in these apps first!
