As if 2020 wasn’t dystopian enough. Robots. A technology take-over. Machines. Laptops. Phones. Where are the humans? In our Netflix shows of course! But just jazzing the tech overhaul a bit more is Netflix with its sketchy ‘Shuffle’ button. Here’s what we know about how you can use it (or can you) to binge watch more!
Netflix greets us with the standard profile page – which asks us which profile we’d like to continue surfing on. But for some of us Netflix users, we’ve been spotting a sneaky ‘Shuffle’ button right below the profile options. And a number of them reported it. Some happy, some confused.
From what we know, the button is for Netflix to literally shuffle its millions of tv and film titles on the platform to throw up suggestions when you’re out of Netflix titles on your watch list. This is based on your past viewings and choices on the streaming platform.
But this is all just being tested.
Reportedly, the Shuffle feature has been put out on test since July.
Netflix reportedly will be collecting feedback from users that have experienced the Shuffle button feature before it rolls out the feature permanently on the platform. Well, this seems to be a welcome alternative to a rather annoying auto-play feature. We’re not really fans of a new show playing out its first episode before we’re even done crying our heart out from the season finale of our earlier one, are we?
The Shuffle button seems to be giving us the control to shuffle it up, clearly. But this isn’t the first time Netflix has been testing some like this. Back in 2019, Netflix had brought out a feature for its Mobile App platform where viewers could randomly start playing episodes from other shows, from the main menu itself.
But on a clearly unrelated note, Netflix. Why would you let The Office go? You know how hard it is for us to let go? *That’s what she said.
