If Prince Aladdin’s pants came to life, this is what they would look like! You must have seen pictures floating around on Instagram of models in these huge balloon-y pants, walking down the runway. This collection was created by menswear designer Harikrishnan for his graduate show at the London College of Fashion. These inflatable trousers are made out of latex, with a seven-millimeter-wide valve at the bottom. Fitting snugly at the waist, these trousers balloon out, almost twice as wide as the wearer’s thighs, before tapering back towards the ankle. This has prompted the thought of us getting one step closer to being like our fantasy hero, Aladdin!

But what led Harikrishnan to making these inflatable trousers? The idea struck him when he was walking his dog, Kai. He wondered what humans would look like to a pug, a small creature, and the thought led him to thinking about exaggerated silhouettes and this collection was born.
Once these latex pants blew up on Instagram, with thousands enquiring about purchase and custom design, the young designer decided to put them up for sale.
They are available for purchase on a made-to-order basis via APOC Store.
If you are wondering whether the pants would be comfortable to wear, do not worry. Once you slip into the pants, all you need to do is pump them with air and you’re ready to go!
Harikrishnan says, “it feels like you’re floating”. When you are ready to get out of them, a two-minute deflation time and voila, they slip right off! But do keep in mind, the pants come with a warning sign that says “Please do not overinflate”.
A little absurd, but how very dreamy are these inflatable trousers?
