Often we go to restaurants to find the food presentation so pleasing that we snap instant pictures as reminders. Time and again, we try to present our food aesthetically, making it more palatable – clicking pictures and sending it to friends and family as moments to cherish. British artist Kate Jenkins takes a step further to knit and crochet the food items she has fallen in love with, and the results are nothing short of scrumptious, with a side of delightful humor. These knit foods have gathered her over forty thousand lovers on Instagram, and they are never disappointed.

Jenkins loves turning into crochet sculptures the most loved food items, like cakes, bagels, burgers, fruits vegetables, packaged snacks and so much more!
From childhood she had been inclined towards these crafts – her mother and grandmother were her teachers. Fueled by her passion for textiles, she graduated with a degree in fashion textiles from the University of Brighton in 1995.
After a few years, she opened a studio with an attached gallery, where she worked and displayed her craft.
If you’re wondering why knit food, the answer is simple. Across countries and continents and cultures and traditions, you will practically never run out of new food items. These include varied flavors, like sweet and savory. This, coupled with vibrant colors, textures and shapes always keeps things recreational. Jenkins, while talking about her knit food, admits she’s obsessed with it as a subject matter.
Even though the food items are represented in textile, they look amazingly lifelike. The base materials only make things amusing, and a little humor goes a long way.
Jenkins always keeps a sketch book with herself – an idea may pop any time! She also remembers to photograph dishes to have a reference whenever she’s ready to make another delicious sculpture!
