The Sørvágsvatn lake, the largest in Faroe Islands, is known for a very peculiar phenomenon, rarely found anywhere else on Earth.

The lake appears to be on the edge of a cliff that is more than 200 metres above the sea level, and it melts into the North Atlantic Ocean. But does it really?
It’s all about the point of view.
Move a bit and you’ll find out that the lake is no more than 30 metres above sea level. This very feature of lake Sørvágsvatn makes it one of the most sought-after optical illusions nature has played on us.
