We have all come across hilarious and wholesome recreations of cartoon characters that always leave us chuckling. But have you thought about the anthropomorphism of your favorite animal from the movies? Imagine Simba as the big bad guy and Bambi as the sweet little boy. In simple terms, anthropomorphism or humanization of certain things leads to us rendering them human qualities, like our cats ‘thinking’ and Scooby-Doo ‘talking’. This humanization can be conscious, like the latter, or unconscious, like the former. Conscious anthropomorphism is what we witness in cartoons and films, the animated characters human-like, with their own thoughts and feelings. Australia based young artist Shannon Lee is humanizing our favorite animated characters, and the results are mesmerizing!

According to the artist, she has been interested in the arts since she was a year old, and took to dabbling at the young age of 1! The humanization of cartoon characters and animals is fully conscious – what if animated animals and cartoon characters were, in fact, real humans? – the project seems to wonder, and leaves a glint in our eyes.
And when we ask the question of movie animals being humans, we literally mean turning them into people! The artist has recreated some of the most famed and loved animated characters, especially animated animals, as human beings. The personality traits of the character live in its human reimagining, facial features a shadow of the original, clothing recognizable enough for us to know who the humanized version is of.
