The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards are living proof that Mama nature loves comic relief. Amid all the seriousness of life, a few pictures let us embrace some chuckles as we go on living our day, now a little lighter. And somewhere between the smiles and laughs, we fall in love with our friends from the animal kingdom. Luckily for the world, photographers capture some of the funniest moments of nature in their wildlife photographs.

Ouch!
Photographer Ken Jensen’s image of a male monkey who is basically kicked in the groin is number 1! TThe animal’s nuts have landed on a wire, he seems to scream AHH OUCH! Same, bro, same! This hilarity defeated over 7,000 entries to win the Comedy Wildlife Photography Award.
Ouch! was shot in Yunnan, China in 2016 when the photographer was on a family vacation.
I Guess Summer’s Over
The public choice award for the funniest image went to the extremely relatable I Guess Summer’s Over by photographer John Spears. In the image, a pigeon is smacked in the face by an autumn leaf.
We can’t look at the pigeon’s face, but we’re sure we have the same reaction to summer getting over and fall creeping in! NAAHHHH.
Time for School
A parent otter ‘bites’ its baby during swimming lessons.

Don’t worry, the big one is doing the best it can. To carry the young otter to and fro for swimming lessons, that is. The photo was shot by Chee Kee Teo.
Hugging Best Friend after Lockdown

Photographer Rahul Lakhmani captures the emotion perfectly in his video where a bird is perched upon a rope. Another bird flies and hugs ‘into’ our first bird, both falling from the air.
Ninja Prairie Dog
When an evil bald eagle tries to grab a prairie dog, what happens?
Arthur Trevino’s Ninja Prairie Dog illustrates a bald eagle’s failed attempt at grabbing a dog and flying away. The prairie dog is smart, though. It jumps to leave the eagle shocked for a few seconds, and in those few seconds runs to a burrow!
The Joy Of a Mud Bath
Vicky Jauron’s portfolio of a joyous elephant contains some of the happiest and funniest pictures we saw this year. The photos were shot near Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe and express an elephant’s joy at taking a dirty, muddy bath.
Not gonna lie, we are tempted to try it ourselves!
Let’s Dance
Cute little bear babies dancing their hearts out? Oh, what would we not give to see the sight.
Thankfully, photographer Andy Parkinson captured the moment when two small Kamchatka bear cubs were dancing with joy at having successfully navigated a raging torrent.
