Dolphins

Dolphins are very vocal. They produce whistles and sounds that resemble moans, trills, grunts, squeaks, and creaking doors. 

Koalas

Koalas are very cute and adorable but the sounds they make will definitely surprise you. Male koalas produce unusually deep bellowing or grunting calls. They have a special vocal organ that is not present in any other mammal. They also make sounds like snarls, squeaks and screams.

Alpaca

Did you know that Alpacas hum? If not, don’t worry, it surprised many of us too! Alpacas hum like how a cat purrs. Their hums can range in tone and urgency, and are produced to convey all kinds of different emotions. Apart from this alpacas scream, make alarm calls, clucking and a bizarre and unsettling yet hilarious sound called orgling. Only male alpacas orgle. 

Capybaras

Capybaras make a lot of noises. Let it be happiness or fear or just looking for a mate, they express them all by making different noises. They bark like dogs when they hang out as groups, and make chattering sounds to communicate with each other.

Ferrets

Ferrets are little adorable brats that love communicating and making noises. Just like cats, they hiss when they are irritated and not in the mood to have fun. They make the ‘dooking’ sound when they are laughing. They also bark, squeak, screech, whine, whimper and grind their teeth. 

Foxes

We don’t need to mention the vocals of foxes, universally foxes are known for their noises especially the ‘kekeke’ laugh they make. They bark, scream, howl, squeal, etc. Recent researches have mentioned that foxes make upto 12 distinct noises throughout their life. 

Hippopotamuses 

There’s a whole hidden dimension to hippopotamus sounds, quite literally below the surface. Hippos make sounds that are somewhat similar to the noises made by dolphins. They make honking noises which are like deep laughs. Hippos grunt, groan, growl, roar and make loud wheezing sounds. They also make chuffing noises.

Lemurs

Lemurs communicate using sight, smell and sound. They make sounds of shrieks, grunts, barks, moos, eeps, and trills. 

Moose

Moose make sounds for various reasons but usually it’s only when they are arguing or looking for a mate. Most of the time, they moan. This sound is usually known as a ‘rut’.

Prairie dogs

Prairie dogs have a wide repertoire of vocalizations. They make a two toned bark that somewhat sounds like ‘EE-eeee’. Their bark and squeaks differ from situation to situation.
