The Philippines was hit with a bizarre discovery when they found clams that eat rocks in the Bohol Island. This newfound breed is called Lethoredo Abatanica and is a type of shipworm that supposedly ate wood till they moved onto rocks. These clams eat limestone and turn them to sand. When they eat rocks, it changes the course of the river. The burrows they create are homes for so many sea creatures.
It is an unnatural phenomena and scientists are trying to understand it in every way. By the way, fun fact, otters use rocks to open clams up to eat. Interesting.
