Aww! You have such a puppy face! How many times have you heard someone use this phrase? Quite a lot, right? Now try this, “ Hey, you look just like a cat!” Nah? Not so common? Well, this artist would beg to differ!
Photographer Gerrard Gethings takes photographs of cats and matches them to their look like human counterparts. It all started in the year 2018, when the photographer collected a few photographs of dogs and matched them to people based on looks. This series created by him became a huge hit and started to trend as a bestselling memory card game.
However, what Gethings thought was that matching dogs and humans was nothing new. Everyone was doing that, but matching a cat and human on their looks was something unheard of. It was much more challenging.
His process goes on something like this, he first takes the cat portraits and based on the photograph of the cats, he selects models by conducting a proper casting process. However it was not half as easy that it sounds. Many times he would go to click the pictures of the cat and the cat would refuse to come out of its comfort zone. Even if some cats managed to come out of their beds and sit on the table to pose, as soon as they saw the camera, they would jump off the table.
After a lot of struggle and determination, this professional animal portraitist successfully published some human-cat pictures with uncanny resemblance.
