Award-winning hairstylist Cassie Carry has shown the world how vibrant a mere mop of hair – or the near absence of – can be. Born and raised in New Hampshire, US, the artist is famous in the fashion world for many things, and of these famed art styles is Carey’s take on buzzcuts. The stylist creates fluorescent, psychedelic buzzcuts that are at once dizzying and awe-inspiring.
For as long as she can remember Carry has loved the arts, drawing and painting being her first love. This form of visual art has allowed her for over two decades to express herself. But, for some time now, this practice has come not with pen, on paper, but with hair color on the head!
You see, even though Cassie Carey loved painting, she realized that hairstyling and the fashion world called to her. After graduating from high school, Carey moved to New York to attend Beauty school. She graduated in 2018 and has since been recognised as a brilliantly talented hairstylist who has won several awards like the ‘Newcomer Hairstylist Of The Year’.
Carey’s canvas might be unconventional, but her art remains the same. Her experiments with hues and patterns in her field of hairstyling have rendered some fascinating results, most importantly the psychedelic buzzcuts. To the artist, her work is ‘wearable art’ that allows her the liberty to go outside the box with her artistic imagination and expression.
Her works tell us a tale – a tale where the artist is able to express herself and the figments of her imagination as freely as she wants, all while giving the human body an aesthetic purpose.
To the aspiring, Cassie Carey is an inspiration – to be true to one’s own heart, first of all, even though the passion might not be understood by many, is encouragement enough to lead us to follow our own dreams.
