The New York City skies will see fireworks once again next month for the 46th Annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks. The Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular celebrates America’s birthday in New York with musical performances from chart-topping superstars along with a live firework display. There will be shows by top bands including Black Pumas, Coldplay, OneRepublic and Reba McEntire; Renée Elise Goldsberry and Ryan Eggold host.
America’s musical lugacy
This year’s light show is choreographed to a musical score that will boast of the dynamic diversity of America’s musical legacy. The score curated by famed musical director Ray Chew includes America’s unique musical genres that have inspired and captivated the world. The awe-inspiring show will uplift spirits with Jazz and Hip Hop to R&B, Rock and Country music that underscores the pyrotechnics in the sky.
The signature moment of each spectacle, the Macy’s Golden Mile and a spectacular tribute in light add the finishing touch to the Macy’s 4th of July fireworks. The fireworks will showcase more than 48,000 golden-hued shells to the medley of “My Country Tis of Thee” and “America the Beautiful,” for a dramatic cascade effect. The Young People’s Chorus of New York City will add excitement to the show by performing the classic patriotic tunes including “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “Reach Out and Touch (Somebody’s Hand)”.
The best views of Macy’s 4th of July fireworks
It will be a jaw-dropping pyrotechnic salute to America high above the East River with new and exciting fireworks spectacles. Macy’s Fireworks can be watched from anywhere in the city with an unobstructed view of the sky above the East River in Midtown. Public viewing locations will be set up along Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan waterfronts by NYPD will soon be announced. Spectators in New York City can tune into radiation station 1010 WINS to hear the musical score to which the show is choreographed.
A National Television spectacle
The national broadcast of Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular will be aired by NBC from 8-10 pm so that fans of the annual fireworks from coast to coast will have a front-row view of the pyro in the sky from the comforts of home. You can also watch live of New York City getting illuminated by fireworks around 9:25 pm in NYC or stream the show on Peacock.
Behind the big sparks
A series of Macy’s live episodes at macys.com/macyslive will give you a sneak peek of the magic behind the spectacle. The Macy’s Firework team will showcase the inner workings of the pyrotechnic celebration.
The shells will be being launched from five barges stretching for more than a mile across the East River centred around Midtown Manhattan. The skies above New York City will be filled with almost 2,000 shells and effects per minute. Macy’s announced that the fireworks will have new shaped effects including tall hat, mushroom, little snake shell, tricolour interlocking rings and blinking smiling faces.
