Aerial photographer Ognyan Stefanov’s painstakingly detailed miniature village that took 2 years to construct will leave you in awe because of its intricate attention to particularity and self-sustenance, needless to point out the astonishing beauty that marks this tiny village built on 1/87th scale.
About Stefanov
Ognyan Stefanov is a world-famous photojournalist and a remarkably adept aerial photographer – the official shotman for the Bulgarian air-force. More than that, he’s the exclusive photographer for the Bulgarian President. But Stefanov is much more than someone with a camera. He’s an artist, first of all, having won many awards for his scale modelling. He loves creating miniature architectural pieces, Skyville, the utopia, being his best work till date.
About Skyville, the village atop a wooden tower
With the ethereal Skyville, Stefanov’s intention was to create a self-sustaining utopia where residents have everything they could possibly need, surrounded by lush green and even a getaway to a local inn. This is Stefanov’s original creation – a humble community with stores, houses, apartment buildings and much more. As the name would suggest, this village is perched in the sky.
The details
Skyville took two years to finish, so it’s no surprise that this structure is laden with miniscule details. Stefanov has paid special attention to minute things such as art and beds in rooms, the trees, the stream, the bridge and the moss. That’s not all, though.
The details go as deep as a stunning rock formation with a footbridge, multi-level paths, stairways, pulleys and a large main house. This house boasts of a modernistic roof with tiles and windows. Flower beds bring vibrancy to the irregularly shaped window boxes. Potted plants can be seen inside the buildings, along with lavish chandeliers. As if such accuracy wasn’t enough, there lies a drainage system.
The people, though, steal the spotlight. Every person is present for a reason, be it a farmer dressed in overalls or a child playing.
The materials used
Skyville is made almost completely from scratch. Popsicle sticks, photo etched materials and wood-stirrers have made possible this astounding miniature village.
