Most of us love dogs. They are loyal, faithful, active, loving and a walking ball of happiness. All dogs are great but when it comes to which dog surpasses all the others in popularity, exoticness and qualities – its Labrador retriever.
Labrador retrievers are originally from Newfoundland, province of Canada. They were originally known as St. John’s Dog (capital city of Newfoundland). They are one of the most popular dog breeds across the world and go by many names including Lab, Gun Dog, Labrador and of course Labrador Retriever.
They love working and being involved in tasks and activities. They are intelligent dogs that are often used for finding, hunting, assistance, rescue dogs, and so much more. They are great therapy dogs because of their adorable nature and innocent faces.
Labrador retrievers are avid eaters and absolutely love binging. They will dig up garbage if there is a hint of food in it so watch out for their diet. They also require extensive exercise to stay fit and active. It is also very important for the release of energy else they might turn to aggressive activities. Puppy training sessions would be really helpful for you.
By the way, Labradors love water and they are sporty dogs as well! They can learn to do anything and everything. The most common colours they come in are yellow, chocolate and black.
Other facts about Labradors include that colourful puppies can be born even from the same litter and also how diabetes in dogs was first detected in a Labrador retriever named Armstrong in the year 2015.
They are kid-friendly and a gentle breed. They are trustworthy, generous, outgoing and an absolute treat to eyes!
