It was sold to a private collector for a whopping $450.3 million and thus makes it to the top list for being one of the most expensive pieces of art. Salvator Mundi is Latin for Saviour of The World. The subject is Christ with his right hand raised for blessing the world and in the hand, he is holding an orb.

When Will You Marry by Paul Gauguin and & Interchange by Willem Kooning

This painting on the left was made by Paul Gauguin in 1892. The medium of this painting is oil on canvas. The two Tahitian women are seen sitting on the ground and sharing a dynamic bond.

The other painting on the right is by Willem Kooning who was better known for his abstract expressionism. They both tie at the second place for being one of the most expensive paintings as both were sold for $300 million in separate private auctions.
