1 Childproof Latches
Cats and dogs have a curious nature. They like to snoop around the house. Use childproof latches to secure your cupboards and kitchen and bathroom doors. This will keep them away from harmful chemicals and food items. This will also keep them from making a mess. It is always better to keep the bathroom locked. Some dogs have the habit of drinking from the bowl which is not healthy.

2 Flooring Matters
The harder the floor the easier it is to maintain. Pets may spoil the carpet and hence it is better to just have normal flooring. Tiles are the best option as they are hard and scratch proof. They are also easy to clean and stay cool in the hot summer.

3 Look for High Ground
Keep precious items out of reach. Keep them enclosed in a cupboard or in a higher place where the pets can’t reach. They will jump around the house and things that are within their reach will fall and break. They can also hurt themselves in this. Make sure toxic items are also out of reach.

4 Cables and Spaces
Pets often get stuck in dangerous places like behind electrical equipment. They also tend to get entangled in cables. This can be dangerous. Create blockades wherever the pets can get in and get stuck. Tie up the cables and cover them up so that they don’t get entangled in them. Cover the electrical switches as well.

5 Indoor Plants
Some indoor plants can cause harm to your pets. Place such plants in balconies or other places that can be locked out. Check out the toxic and non-toxic nature of the plant before bringing them home.

6 Vacuum Cleaner
Invest in a good vacuum cleaner. You will have pet hair and dirty paw marks to clean. Every once in a while they will also break something. Your vacuum cleaner should be sturdy and easy to clean as well.

7 Create a Space
Create a small space for your pet. Get a cozy pet bed and set up a corner for them. If you have a pet dog, then get some chewable toys for it or a scratch object if you have a cat. They would know that this is their place where they can relax and take a nap.
