Confused? Here Are Top 5 Movies To Catch On Netflix This Month

Is it just me, or is the year whizzing by a bit too soon? Not that we wouldn’t want to get done with this wretched year at the earliest. But the only happy punctuations to the year are the Netflix additions to it’s list each month. October is no different and here are out top 5 movies to watch on Netflix.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople

Hunt for the Wilderpeople

This 2016 Adventure-Comedy film is directed and written by none other than the wonderfully gifted Taika Waititi (of Jo Jo Rabbit fame, remember?) The film revolves around a father (well, foster father to be accurate) – son duo who find themselves stranded in the wilderness of New Zealand. Soon enough they find themselves becoming subjects of a manhunt in the forests and what ensues thereafter is an entertaining struggle for survival.

Moneyball

Based on a non-fiction book of the same name, the film is an account of the general manager of the Oakland Athletics Baseball Team. The 2002 gaming season is on the anvil, the manager will put in his all to assemble a competitive team. Starring Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill in lead roles, the film was initially intended to be shot in a semi-documentary style, featuring interviews with real-life players. But the eventual outcome is quite the opposite but robust nonetheless.

The Trial of the Chicago 7

The Trial of the Chicago 7

Directed by Aaron Sorkin and stars acting stalwarts like Sacha Baron Cohen, Eddie Redmayne and Joseph Gordon Levitt among others. The movie is based on the 1969 trial of seven defendants who were charged with conspiracy, amongst other charges. Why may you ask? All answers lay at the uprising and the countercultural protests in Chicago at the 1968 Democratic National Convention.

Cape Fear

The 1991 remake of the 1962 outing by the same name is a psychological thriller based on a novel titled, The Executioners. Starring Robert De Niro and directed by the invincible Martin Scorsese, the story traces the life of a convicted rapist who post release seeks to make sinister use of his new found insights into the law of the land. More so, the loopholes into the law of the land. Why exactly? For vengeance against a former public defender for wrongfully convicting him for 14 long years. The movie won De Niro an Oscar nod too.

Her

This 2013 science fiction outing seeks to give out a lesson on love that may seem not too distant and weird given how times have changed in these past 7 years. The film traces the life of a commoner (played by the powerful Joaquin Phoenix) who develops a relationship with Samantha. Except, she’s not a human, but a virtual assistant powered by artificial intelligence. The film was not only a critical success but also a win at the box office. Stars Scarlett Johansson, Amy Adams, Rooney Mara, Olivia Wilde, and Chris Pratt as well.

P.S. Congratulations daddy Phoenix!

There you go. Quite the mix for your weekend (or weekday) binge. If not these, check out our other Netflix suggestions?
