Are There Bees In The Ocean?

The significance of discoveries can never be underrated, I mean it is as obvious as the fact that it cannot rain without a cloud! Of course, the highly talented scientists depend on their speculations and calculations regarding a number of theories, and obviously, once those theories are confirmed based on some discovery, the results are not that different. However, none can change the fact that some findings do lead to some drastic unexpected result that leaves everyone thinking about how more diverse the world can get? One such eye-opening discovery was the bees-like animals of the sea! Yes, you heard that correct.

So for a very long time, the scientists assumed that the process of self-pollination is the only option through which the plants under the sea can multiply, which to be honest was a fair enough assumption until the bees of the ocean were finally discovered! So they are not actual bees that you often draw on books with yellow and black stripes, but they are these tiny invertebrates, called zooplankton, that are responsible for underwater pollination along with the water itself. They basically visit the male and female flowers and carry the pollen, hence, somewhat acting like bees. Just like the bees in the land, these bees-like animals play an essential role in the underwater ecosystem when it comes to pollination under the sea.

I mean everyone has heard the fact that the human race might die if bees did go extinct, well, the bees under water deserve equal reorganization as the entire process of underwater pollination helps in increasing the Sea-grasses. Now, why is that important you ask? Well, seagrass definitely plays a vital role underwater, like improves the transparency of water, stabilizes the coastline, helps in the storage of carbon, do I need to go on? I mean you do get the idea right, so the point is by helping this sea-grass to increase, these sea bees-like animals, zooplankton, are basically doing a major favor to the smooth running of the ecosystem under the sea. So yes, that is the bees of the seas for you. Now you know who else is working tirelessly to keep up with who filtration work of the ocean!
