Cycling in the aquarium is very important. All fish including goldfish begin releasing toxic ammonia into their surroundings. Within a few days, the water can be toxic enough to kill them. You can cultivate beneficial bacteria in your aquarium.
Weekly partial water changes are also very important. It’s pretty easy to do and helps a lot in keeping the goldfish healthy.
Goldfish need to feed good quality and correct amount of food. They do not have a true stomach and their digestive system is not built to handle large amounts of food. It’s better to feed them small amounts of food tow-three times a day.

Yes, it is safe to buy a goldfish for your kid but there are things to be kept in mind. You should always keep an eye on your kid. Kids play a lot and carelessly too. It can happen sometimes that they throw something unhealthy or harmful into the fish tank and end up hurting the goldfish. It is best to keep the aquarium out of your kid’s reach as in the worst-case scenario; kids can break the aquarium too. This is not something that happens a lot but it’s better to take precautions.
